Ride United

Overcoming Transportation Barriers to Health, Financial Stability, and Food Security.

In April of 2020, when COVID-19 limited physical access to healthy food services, United Way and 211 partnered with DoorDash to launch Ride United Last Mile Delivery, which powers the delivery of charitable food and essential items. Although the pandemic catalyzed this program, it's an innovative approach to long-standing food access issues in the United States. In January 2022, the United Way of Greater McHenry County launched Ride United Last Mile Delivery. So far, it has provided more than 30,000 deliveries to homes in need throughout our county.

To sign up for free deliveries, you must live within the delivery area of one of our food pantry partners and work with them directly to set up your free delivery. Our current pantry partners are:

Casa DeVida Church and Food Pantry - McHenry

First Church Food Pantry - The Chapel McHenry

FISH Food Pantry - McHenry

Holy Apostles - McHenry

McHenry Middle School via Kids in Need (signed-up students only)

St. Ann's Church and Food Pantry - Wonder Lake

Woodstock Food Pantry - Woodstock

If you are with a food pantry that would like to be a partner, please get in touch with Becky Welter at info@uwmchenry.org

We are in the process of partnering with a solution to provide deliveries in areas of the county that do not currently have DoorDash coverage—stay tuned!

Your generous contribution will help someone in need improve their physical and mental health by providing access to delivered groceries.
